Satfinder, a simple analog meter. To align your satellite dish, place the meter "between" the coaxial cable from the LNB to your receiver. Read more.
To start, place the sat finder at the dish between the LNB and the coaxial cable, using a short connection cable.
Then turn the sat finder knob to the left until the beeping just stops and/or the signal meter moves halfway. (receiver inside must be on)
Then use a compass to determine where south is, or look at the (Dutch) neighbors who may also have a dish pointed at the Astra 1.
Now take the dish (possibly with tripod and all) in your hand and "place" it against your stomach.
Then point the dish towards the south and slowly turn it to the left.
If all goes well, the sat finder will always beep AND/OR the meter will turn to the right when a satellite signal passes by.t |
Turn the dish to the left until you encounter the second high beep / meter reading (from the series of 3), which is the Astra 1 you need.
Now place the dish on the tube or tripod and align it exactly to the position just determined.
Although this procedure will take you about fifteen minutes the first few times. As you become more comfortable with it, this will take less than 5 minutes.
